These past months, actually nearer a year have seen me move into a different space. I gave up my massage work and then two yoga classes which gave me free evenings for the first time in 20years. Slowly, slowly I've realised how joyful it is to teach private yoga sessions. This morning there was the lovely Becky and then Chris. Gorgeous woman that she is, she is more than happy to be part of my Instagram story! #forrestabs were our priority as she has been advised by her osteopath to strengthen her spine and abdomen. Back to basics with support from the wall we gradually developed her practice of elbow to knee. ~ Brighten up ~ . . It’s a grey miserable day today here in London but a great day for playing with the feeling of plugging in, making new connections and finding that inner spark. Handstand star chakra - deep breathing and active hands providing the foundations, lifting through the core (helping lift ass up!). Active feet and especially reaching through big toes in order to turn on the inner leg line, connecting legs with core energy. Inner brightness achieved! ~ Runners in the know... do yoga! ~ . . I often hear people say they can’t do yoga because they’re not flexible, and very often from runners! In addition to warming up for running, one of the keys to staying injury free is to also warm down properly. Here is where Yoga fits in nicely. It not only helps us to stretch muscles in our legs out, but also frees up the hips & the shoulders, strengthens the core to support the low back, and brings more mindfulness to our running through awareness of body and breath. ~ Support ~ . . What is your perception of, or relationship to support? Do you equate accepting support as a sign of failure? Do you bust a gut to support others at the expense of supporting yourself? One of the many things I love about Forrest Yoga is the multitude of tools it offers us to support ourselves both on and off the mat - deep breathing, Active feet to get grounded, an awareness of what I’m holding in my body, learning to surf waves of discomfort or change....Support might mean using a brick or prop to help your practice. It could mean selecting poses wisely to meet yourself where you are at - whether this be uplevellimg or down levelling. It might mean giving yourself some quiet time to relax and recooperate, or maybe going out for a run. Use your practise to explore your relationship and reaction to support so you can better utilise the resources available to you. . . So the weather has been quite amazing today. The red sun and orange hue were definitely a talking point in our house! Now we have high winds and I'm quite comforted by the fact I'm listening to it inside. But watching the trees and how they adapt to this reminds me of why I do yoga: We bend so we don't break.
Celebrating my practice and the beautiful people I get to practice with! Amazing end to an amazing week with the practice of all practices with @intuityoga. 2.5 hours of working with the intent of pleasure, an amazing sequence by @catallenyoga and my body has never felt more open and free. The most open wheel I have EVER done. No creases or crunches in my back and heart fully open. Connecting to yourself and to others through breath, energy and spirit is the most beautiful and intimate connection. It makes me so frickin' happy!! SO MUCH GRATITUDE!! Home from 5 amazing days assisting @jambodragon in Edinburgh @yoga_with_stacey_chavis studio The yoga Room. Fine tuning the continuous evolution of my intuition, seeing, feeling and touch. It is such an honour to hold space and assist people who are courageously going deeper into themselves. 5 days of ceremony every morning with our beautiful drums magically crafted by @basarabdrums fills me with beauty and joy. Ceremony, drumming and music are beautiful ways to connect to yourself and everyone and everything around you. To find your voice and let it be heard. Any voice, whether you believe it to be good or not, sung from the heart and with intention can fill you with beauty and power. Watch out for upcoming drumming and singing ceremonial workshops and fire ceremonies.

~ Thoughts shape reality ~ . . Today was another breakthrough Wednesday! (2 weeks on the trot - pressure's on for next week then!) Drop backs have always been on the 'not even going there without a spotter' list for me. It was only in our morning practices whilst in Berlin that it occurred to me I'd never progress if I kept thinking this! I started playing with walking my hands down the wall into wheel and then back up. I remembered doing this when I was a kid outside the back door whilst my mum was cooking dinner and telling me not to fall on my head. (Fortunately I never did fall on the concrete paving stones I practised on) When I did gymnastics I was walkover queen whether it be forwards or backwards, I had no qualms about falling (although for sure sometimes I did). I started to wonder why if I could drop back when I was 16 with no fears, what was holding me back now? I rationalised it wasn't my wheel (if I'm warmed up plenty it's comfortable) and probably not my strength or flexibility. The only obstacle left then was the belief that at 39 years old a drop back mustn't be possible. I'm increasingly less tolerant these days of the crap my mind will try to have me believe. So when I was nice and warmed up in my practice today I thought I'd just give it a shot, and not even with the wall behind me either! And before I could doubt myself it somehow happened - from standing to wheel! Now to work on getting back up again!! Traveling doesn't come naturally to me. Flying can trigger a lot of anxiety and stress related to trauma. 2 things have made it much easier: 1. Fierce Medicine - Ana's teachings about fear have been so helpful not surprisingly in an indirect magickal way; she talks about the WindHorse and how riding it although scary can also be very exciting and exhilarating !
