FORM BREAKDOWN: Barbell Hip Thrust, when using a true olympic barbell and plates. Part 2 tmrw will breakdown thrusts with a preloaded bar if you aren't strong enough to use 135lb (YET)! . SET UP: Roll the bar over your hips. USE A PAD. PLEASE. Amazon search "squat sponge" and order a pad. Best $20 you'll ever spend. Use a folded yoga mat if you don't have a sponge. Make sure the opening to the pad is facing UP so it doesn't pop off. Pull your heels in so when you thrust, you knee creates a 90 degree angle. Upper back should be against the bench. Ladies, that's just at/above your bra line. I use 6 risers with the step-aerobic thingy, I'm 5'6. Shorter people typically do best with 5 risers. . THE THRUST: Start by pushing your heels into the floor. See how I almost roll the bar forward into the first rep? This is because you should not only thrust UP, but you should also thrust OUT, AWAY from your body, toward your heels. Externally rotate your thighs as you thrust up, shifting your weight into the outer half of your foot/heels. I use a band to make external rotation even HARDER, but it in turn strengthens my abductors a tad more. Bring the bar DOWN toward your heels as well, controlling the eccentric (downward) portion. Lastly. TUCK YO CHINNNN. Save your spine, and double chin the SHIT out of this move. . OTHER DETAILS: As always, hit that #grannybuttsqueeze at the top of each rep while shoving your knees OUT. If you don't feel it in your butt cheeks, lower the weight, go slower and focus on making your ass set on fire. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”ฅAt the top, your body should look flat like a table top, not concave up or down- that can hurt your lower back. Your torso is parallel to the floor and shins perpendicular at the top of each thrust. . This is today's 255x6x3, last set held as long as I could on the final rep. Just because my preferred choice of deadlifting is sumo's, doesn't mean I have to completely avoid the conventional style. - In fact, adding in both variations will assist in increasing the strength of both lifts. This is because they target slightly different muscle groups. - Conventional targeting more posterior chain; hamstrings, lower back, glutes. Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ Just wanted to show y'all the side of me y'all don't see! These are both me... just different versions of me. How I look on IG is not how I look all of the time! In fact I rarely EVER have my hair down... it's always in a bun, and I usually never even brush it. Especially when I am at home... Gym clothes to me aren't even that comfortable honestly so I definitely don't walk around in a cute sports bra, leggings, full makeup, with my hair straightened and brushed 24/7. I spend most of my time in pajama pants and a comfy tank top or t-shirt ๐Ÿ˜Š I also don't walk around posing and flexing! I love IG and I love you girls and I'm so grateful for all of the empowering women I have connected with, but I know it can be SO easy to compare yourself to others on here. I still struggle with it! Just remember that Instagram is a small part of everyone's lives and it is showcasing everyone's best moments! Felt so awkward taking pics in my pajamas but oh well lol... love y'all โค๏ธ

After conversing with many of my new classmates (truly amazing genuine people might I add) I have never felt more confident in living the so called "prep life" as a LIFESTYLE ๐Ÿ‘ŒYou don't have to pick to be in prep mode/healthy mode/cheat mode/ECT. Live your life the way that it makes you happy and things will turn out how they are supposed to. Surround yourself with people who support you for who you are. So I'm really tired of seeing these comparison pictures of bloated vs not bloated or standing/posing vs sitting. Like obviously our stomach's are gonna look different when we are bloated or sitting down! That's not really telling us anything. Posting this because I want y'all to know I don't have muscles popping out everywhere. I have stretch marks. I have cellulite. And I love my body. I think I look good. Being extremely toned is not my end game. Being healthy and disease free is what I like. Having tons of energy and being able to lift heavy and being strong af makes me happy. Punching or round housing a heavy bag so hard it nearly falls over, makes me feel like a bad ass. I enjoy being toxin free and reaping the benefits of a clean whole food diet. There are a lot of fitness gurus on here that are much more toned than me and it used to trip me up, but I no longer stress about that. I could pose & flex in every picture, but I'm not here for that. I'm healthy, I'm happy, and I'm doing what I love. How the next person looks doesn't concern me. So after 4.5 weeks I finally decided to have a cheat meal. I was starting to feel weaker in the gym, my motivation was starting to slack and I just felt drained. As much I tend to beat myself up after the fact, I know that mentally and physically my body needed the day off from the gym and some "comfort food." Work has been extremely stressful with it coming down to my last week in Ohio and having to finish up all of my projects for this rotation. In 8 days I will be packing up all of my belongings and driving back to Florida! ๐ŸŠ My second OMLP rotation with GE Aviation is in Jacksonville! Hence, I get to move back to where I was born and raised! I'm so excited to embark on this new chapter of my life! However, with that being said, these next two or three weeks are going to be super hectic and stressful...they will require me to really micromanage my time to make sure that I have adequate lifting time and still maintain a healthy diet. I can feel myself getting stronger mentally, and I think that trumps any physique improvements going on. I am gaining confidence, learning to have a more positive self-worth, & a much healthier relationship with myself. If this is what self love is, I fuck with it. Hard. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ For those who care about all this stuff. I want to mention that I don't have this self-confidence all the time. Today, I saw how strong I was getting mentally, and I'm going to try my best to remember this moment, because, tbh, I'm extremely insecure & have very self-destructive habits. I apologize if it's TMI.. but maybe this can help someone feel a little better about their journey to self love. But yeah, my biggest issue isn't what my body can or can't achieve - it's what my mind tricks me into believing. It's what made me give in to a lot of binges, to restrict, to purge, etc. It's this insecurity & negative self-worth that lead me to give in to a lot of bad habits. Sabotaging my growth the minute I was getting closer to happiness. Of course, it's bigger than just THAT, but you get the point. Accepting that you're worthy of improvement is the first step you should take. Acknowledging and appreciating your worth doesn't make you conceited or overly confident. It makes you strong. You know what you want, you know you can get it, so you go after it. You'll have sacrifices to make, people to forget, & amazing transformations to go through. Like I said, it won't always be rainbows and sunshine. You'll have days where you feel like your head is going to explode because you're trying so hard to change your way of thinking. You'll have days where you feel overwhelmed with emotions, because you'll realize things that have kept you from finding happiness. All these things will come out, & it'll be hard at times. But then, there'll be that one time where history repeats itself (as it often does when you still have stuff to learn), & you'll choose to be strong and do what's best for you rather than give in to destructive behavior. Which was to be personal trainer and nutrition coach, especially for women who have been through challenging times with self love, eating disorders, depression, anxiety or abusive relationships, as well as food allergies. Because that is my passion!! โœจ I had even been doubting if I should come back and pursue this work. If people would feel I had something worth saying. We're all just going through this thing called life trying to figure it out. A little clip from yesterday's chest and bi's workout. Like I've said, I'm come to love working chest, it's something about the pump and I always leave sore ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ focused a lot of eccentric contraction - ( the movement of lowering the weight allowing the muscle to length and letting gravity pull it down (opposing force) rather than concentric movement which shortens the muscle while generating force such as curling the DB or pushing the bar away from your chest during the bench press) These clips were sped up but each exercise was completed slowly while really engaging the muscles. Have your muscles flex while preforming the DB curls the entire time. No need for heavy heavy weight. This will cause a greater pump than a normal up and down movement. These slow movement will improve your strength and power because strong is sexy my frands ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

I have been slacking on my prep and my workouts the past two weeks. So I have decided that instead of overloading myself with MORE stress, I am going to take some time off to clear my head and to come back stronger! I leave for Florida tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited! So I am going to be using the time that I am on vacation as a way to let my mind and body refresh so that when I get back I can hit it harder than ever before!!! We all fall down, but getting back up is the hardest part! And that's okay!
