The African elephant is the largest living land mammal, one of the most impressive animals on earth.⠀ Of all its specialized features, the muscular trunk is the most remarkable it serves as a nose, a hand, an extra foot, a signaling device and a tool for gathering food, siphoning water, dusting, digging and a variety of other functions. Not only does the long trunk permit the elephant to reach as high as 23 feet, but it can also perform movements as delicate as picking berries or caressing a companion. It is capable, too, of powerful twisting and coiling movements used for tearing down trees or fighting. The trunk of the African elephant has two finger-like structures at its tip, as opposed to just one on the Asian elephant (Elephas maximus).⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Photo by: Ray Morris⠀ Amboseli National Park, Kenya⠀ ⠀ __________________________⠀ ⠀ #elephant #kenya #amboseli #elephants #instanaturefriends #wildplanet #wildlife #wildlifephotography #wildlife_perfection #wildlife_seekers #nature #naturephotography #nature_perfection #naturelovers #natureshot #naturelover #naturepic #africa #safari #igscwildlife #africanamazing #travel #animals #animal #photooftheday #potd #picoftheday #l4l #loxodontae

Vivian Onano // Kenya / "There is so much knowledge that is with people and not in books. So reach out to people, create relationships, learn from them, have mentors in the areas that you are interested in. Make it a habit to continue learning and learning as much as you can. Be vocal; make sure people know what you stand for. Don’t be all over the place till we can’t relate you to anything. Don’t be in a rush to make everything happen in a day. It’s not going to happen and if it happens, it’s not going to be sustainable. Be realistic about the goals you have for yourself and work towards achieving them. But dream big—if you don’t get there, you’ll almost be there. And have fun! There’s a lot of fun. Who are African women? African women are powerful, resourceful, and have great potential. Given the opportunity, they are the force behind achieving prosperity in Africa. I really do believe so." @vivianonano . . . #sheroars #africa #africanwoman #women #womenleaders #womenempowerment #leaders #leadership
